Shell fabric - Entrant - Dermizax EV3
To produce this unique smock we use a highly waterproof and breathable shell fabric called Entrant - Dermizax EV3(TM) - produced in Japan by Toray Industries Inc. By using this advanced fabric we get an extremely light smock. The weight is approx. 750 grams for the whole thing (depending a bit of what size you wear). The Waterproofness is 20.000 mm H2O or higher and the Moisture permeability for this 3-layer laminated shell fabric is 16.000g/m2/24 hours - or higher. The testing method used to determine the Waterproofness and moisture permeability figures is referred to as: B-1 inverted cup method (JIS L1099-B1)
Dermizax EV3(TM) is a heavy duty performance fabric that offers an exceptionally high resistance to water pressure - and - a super durable water repellency. The water repellency level of 80 points is maintained even after 100 wash cycles.
All seams are taped with special tape - also produced by Toray Industries Inc. The tape reacts with the lamination while attached and an exact temperature, speed and pressure is obtained during the extensive taping procedure. This way we obtain a very strong and durable taping everywhere in the smock, and we ensure the high degree of Waterproofness required.
Zippers
All zippers are made by YKK - the worlds biggest and most sophisticated manufacturer of Zippers. We use a 10 mm 100% plastic zipper as front zipper since all metal - if applied - will corrode and become stiff and unhandy to use, when getting in contact with salty sea water.
In the pockets we use water repellant zippers - to make sure that things stoved away in the pockets keep dry.
Reflective materials
The reflective material which we apply to the top of the shoulders are all made by 3M - and is from the 3M Scotchlite (TM) selection.
Neoprene
The smock has adjustable neoprene enclosures at wrist, neck and waist. This is all made to keep you dry and warm - and at the same time comfortable. The neoprene is soft and flexible wherever it is in connection with the skin - arround your wrist or neck - and for the waist part of the smock the neoprene performs a perfect enclosure function between your sailing pants and your smock - again to prevent you from being wet and cold.
